Constellation Mining Company 1lb Paydirt Review

The Review of Constellation Mining Company Paydirt:

It is always great to see an old friend after several years. That is how I felt when I got in my bag of paydirt from Constellation Mining Company. I have panned many a bags of Lyra’s paydirt when I first started and was never disappointed. I only managed to review it once though and that was over 3 years ago. So was nice to see this old friend again.

You can view my old review HERE.

This paydirt will never make you rich, and you wont get a ROI over 100%. However for an under $20 bag of paydirt it is one of the best available. Most low priced bags of paydirt have a few flakes so you know you found gold but that’s it. With the Lyra’s paydirt from Constellation Mining Company you actually find gold. A nice amount of gold at that too.

It has pretty even distribution of sized material, even though you probably will never find any gold in the +10. It is still fun to have all the different classifications for trying out panning techniques. Most of the gold I found was in the -10/+30 range. I did find some really fine gold all the way down to -100 though. Normally I would say it wasn’t that hard to pan out since this stuff has very little black sands in it. However what it lacks in black sands it makes up for in dust. Fine water clogging dust, dust so fine it even floats on the water making it harder to pan out. So it ended up being a real nice challenge.

Constellation Mining Company Lyra’s Paydirt ended with a score of 8.8 out of 10. Their really was nothing wrong with this bag of paydirt. Sure they could add a better description but that is just me splitting hairs. For the price of this paydirt you really can’t go wrong.

This review is my opinion and my results may vary from your results. My bag may have been a bad batch or a great batch, remember no two bags of paydirt are ever the same. So please use common sense when buying paydirt from any seller. Oh and good luck and happy panning!

  1. I have a subscription with Constellation Mining Co. and I love their pay dirt except from mass amounts of shale, but what it is, is what it is. I bought from elkie on eBay and I though it was constellation mining and come to find out it wasn’t as I asked CMC if it was them and they said no. SO I started buying direct from Constellation Mining and the ROI was exponentially increased. I’m not blaming the guy maybe it was a bad bag but it was awfully odd I only found 0.17g compared to 0.45g when the seller claims he does not open or search the bags and claiming to be a part of their organization when he’s not. His store name is even titled Constellation Mining Company. See I am also a seller on eBay not pay dirt I sell the gold I find and silver bullion along with scrap gold and silver CPU parts. I have heard it all believe me. I have continuously every month receiving bags from them directly and every time its not much difference. The lowest yield was 0.29g and the highest was 0.45g but its never higher or lower than that. So I gave the seller the benefit of doubt you know. Bought another bag and it was worse than the first one only yielding 0.11g so I believe he searches the bags but like I said I don’t lay blame or judge people its just odd I consistently recover that nearly same amounts with my subscription and the three times I bought from the seller I was worse than the time before.

    • Constellation Mining is probably the most copied seller on eBay. Last time I looked they had 12 different sellers selling their paydirt. Guess that tells you how good someone is doing by how many people try to rip people off faking them. They are one of my favorite sellers for low priced paydirt. The shale is a pain in the rear but I have seen worse things in paydirt, lol.

  2. This was my first paydirt. I only by from Amazon for Lyra’s.its one of the cheaper bags that do have gold. The shale imho is good for kids makes it easier for them to see.since I started panning have bought 4 of Lyra’s some had more some less . Your not getting rich off an under 20 bag. I have gotten a tinker or 2 in -10 over 20. And it is very dirty paydirt. Will go back to them.

  3. Hey guys constellation mining company here. Thanks for the review! Just wanted to explain about the dust, we mine in an old glacial moraine and the dust is glacial silt. The bedrock is slate. I know it’s a challenge, but that’s what you’ll find if you mine in Alaska. That dust can cause your fines to float, so maybe add a drop of dish soap next time.
