Dirt Hogg 5lb Bag Gold Paydirt Review (DirtHoggPaydirt.com)

Ok so it’s been almost a month since my last review, ugh! Had rain and then family (in-laws) came to visit for 2 weeks, then we all cam down with a nasty stomach bug so June was a bust. The worst thing about it is I have about 50lbs of various pay dirt sitting in a pile waiting for me to review and just didn’t have the time. This one from Dirt Hogg was the one I had been itching to open so today popped it open……….

The Review:

This pay dirt is very chunky (5lb bag) with tons of rocks and oh so much black sand. It was one of those bags of paydirt you both love and hate. My 1st scoop of the larger material netted me 2 nice pickers (.73 grams and .22 grams) and I happy to see those huge pickers. Then it all came crashing down as next 2 scoops had nothing, then the joy as I got a (.63 picker), then nothing, lol. All told I got about 4 nice pickers with the 3 largest being (.86, .73 & .63 grams). Now onto the fine stuff, and man was it a challenge. As soon as I put the 1st scoop of the fine stuff in my pan I realized how heavy it felt and was it heavy. The fine stuff is almost all black sand, with very little blondes in it, so its a hum dinger to pan. Took me about 2 hours just to pan it all one time so this review is based solely on 2 passes and I know I missed a little bit of the floaters and flour gold. So while the review is great to keep in mind once I build my miller table the ROI will probably go over 70%.

Also want to mention how great the customer service is over at Dirt Hogg. The package got held up in customs for seemed like forever, so shot DH an email and they responded right away. They even sent me follow up emails when they heard or didn’t hear from customs. So thanks Dirt Hogg for watching out for your customers!

DirtHogg ended with a great final score of 8.8 out of 10. The score probably would have been a little lower because the description on the website is pretty lacking, however, I did bump it up some because the CS answered all my questions so fast.

***Disclaimer*** This review is my opinion and my results may vary from your results. My bag may have been a bad batch or a great batch, remember no two bags of paydirt are ever the same. So Please use common sense when buying paydirt from any seller.

  1. Ordered a 2lb bag from you on 8/19. Paid $106.00. Receipt 3Pr7244950764433. Should I have received it by now?

    • You mean you ordered it from Dirthogg.com not me, I only review site not sell stuff. I would suggest you contact them at http://www.dirthoggpaydirt.com/#!contact-us/cfvg
But remember they are shipping it from Canada. If I remember right though they do email shipping numbers once it ships. So check your spam folder maybe you have tracking number if not use the contact form above.

  2. Thanks…am I reading this wrong or you lost about thirty dollars?

    • No I lost 30% of my money, you could say I lost $83.06 but I don’t see it that way. I see it as I made $186.94. This is a hobby, so the money I spend on a hoby is for fun, then if I get a return its a bonus. Some people spend $100 taking family to movies, I spend $100 buying dirt or family. You will almost never make money BUYING anything. If something was worth more then they were selling it for they wouldn’t sell it, lol.

  3. I just enjoy watching your videos. I live in Nebraska even though I was born in Alaska, Never got to see it much so moved back when I was 21, I have had gold fever ever since i was younger watching GPAA shows and it is still burning me up. Nebraska in the center of the state is where I live, we have alot of black sand but very very little if any gold to find in it and if you do see any its magnifying glass small. So these reviews are helping me to figure out where my best value for the experience is going to be at. The bags that are 59.99 and lower are the ones I’m more interested in. Can’t afford much. Suggestions?
